RailTel Corporation of India shares surged 7.5% to ₹297.60 on Wednesday after the company secured a one-year work order extension from the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO). The contract is valued at ₹166.80 crore and is scheduled for completion by February 2027. This marks the fourth order win for the state-owned enterprise in August, following recent contracts from the Deendayal Port Authority, the Department of Posts, and the North Western Railway. Despite the recent rally, the stock remains down 22% for the year 2026.
Why it matters
The new order provides revenue visibility for RailTel and offers a short-term boost to investor sentiment amid a volatile year for the company's stock.
