Raipur police arrested eight individuals, including a 16-year-old girl's father, for allegedly subjecting her to repeated sexual assault and selling her newborn son for ₹1.5 lakh. According to investigators, the father threatened the survivor and assaulted her in 2023 at a relative's house in Amlidih, leading to a pregnancy that was terminated using forced abortion medication. The accused raped her a second time in 2025, after which he utilized aides to conceal her age by altering her Aadhaar card and arrange a hospital delivery. The newborn was subsequently sold to another family while the survivor was forced to sign documents. Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, POCSO Act, and Juvenile Justice Act.
