Rajasthan Lawyers' Association Sought Acting CJ's Transfer Over Bar-Bench Friction

· India · Indian Express, The Hindu

A day before Supreme Court Justice Sandeep Mehta publicly sought the transfer of Rajasthan High Court Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma, the Rajasthan High Court Advocates Association in Jodhpur wrote to CJI Surya Kant making the same request. Association president Ranjeet Joshi stated in an August 25 letter that current administrative circumstances and treatment of advocates were creating frequent conflicts and damaging harmony between the Bar and the Bench. The lawyers also cited unresolved infrastructure grievances, such as the lack of basic meeting spaces and chambers, while urging the appointment of a permanent Chief Justice. Justice Mehta subsequently wrote three letters to the CJI and apex court judges requesting Justice Sharma's relocation.
