Rajnath Singh Warns Pakistan of Stronger Response to Terror

· India · LiveMint

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted on Thursday that any future terrorist acts originating from Pakistan will invite a stronger military response from India. Speaking at the Times Network Defence Conclave in New Delhi, Singh stated that India's commitment to peace should not be interpreted as weakness, citing Operation Sindoor, the Balakot airstrikes, and surgical strikes as proof of a strategic shift toward proactive action. He noted that the shelf life of terrorists in India has dropped significantly since 2014, with security forces neutralizing them within a year of taking up arms. Singh also highlighted emerging security challenges in the digital age, defining a '5D Security Threat' comprising disinformation, destabilisation, disruption, deception, and destruction, while warning against the rise of lone-wolf attacks and white-collar terrorism.

Why it matters

The Defence Minister's remarks signal India's ongoing doctrine of proactive cross-border deterrence and highlight growing vigilance against hybrid and cyber threats.
