· Automobile · Car and Driver, Wired, BBC News

Land Rover has revealed the Range Rover Electric for the 2027 model year, marking the first time the luxury SUV adopts an electric powertrain in its 57-year history. The vehicle features a dual-motor setup delivering 542 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, enabling a 0 to 60 mph time of 4.3 seconds. Built on an 800-volt architecture with a 119-kWh battery pack, the EV offers an EPA-estimated driving range of 333 miles. DC fast-charging allows the battery to charge from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes at speeds up to 350 kW, using a standard NACS port. The SUV retains the gas-powered model's air-spring suspension, 35-inch water-wading depth, and full-time all-wheel drive, alongside aerodynamic exterior adjustments.

Why it matters

This launch brings electrification to a flagship luxury off-roader, setting a new benchmark for high-end electric SUVs with rapid charging capabilities and maintained off-road performance.
