Ranveer Singh Challenges Rs 45 Crore Don 3 Compensation Claim
· Entertainment · Times of India, Indian Express
Ranveer Singh has submitted a formal defence against a Rs 45 crore compensation claim filed by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani regarding his exit from the film 'Don 3'. During an August 18 meeting of the Indian Motion Picture Producers’ Association (IMPPA), Singh’s legal team argued that the association lacks the jurisdiction to adjudicate the dispute. The actor’s representatives maintained that his association with Excel Entertainment was limited to a Memorandum of Understanding rather than a formal contract. Singh’s team has warned that any resolution passed by the IMPPA against him could lead to further legal action in court. The association had previously postponed an August 14 hearing after receiving initial correspondence from the actor's legal counsel.
Why it matters
The dispute highlights the legal complexities of film production agreements and the limits of industry bodies in resolving high-stakes financial conflicts between actors and production houses.
