· Business · Economic Times, Times of India
India's annual house price growth moderated to 3.6% in the first quarter of the current financial year, down from 4.5% in the previous quarter. The Reserve Bank of India's All-India House Price Index reached 117.5, representing a 1.1% increase on a quarter-on-quarter basis. Growth was primarily driven by property price increases in cities including Chandigarh, Lucknow, and Thiruvananthapuram. The index, which tracks 18 major cities, uses 2022-23 as its base year.
Why it matters
The moderation in price growth reflects shifting affordability pressures in the Indian real estate market, impacting potential homebuyers and developers.
