Reddit ends RSS feeds, shuts public API access by March 2027
· Technology · TechCrunch, Mashable
Reddit announced it will cease RSS feed support on November 13, citing large-scale scraping and automated abuse as the primary reasons. The company also confirmed public API access will end by March 2027, impacting tools used for programmatic access to conversations and social listening products. Reddit's move coincides with its AI licensing business, which generated $43 million in other revenue during Q2 2024, up 24% year-over-year. Moderators reliant on RSS for alerts are advised to migrate to the Discord Relay Devvit app before the shutdown. The decision leaves users who relied on RSS for content access without a platform-native alternative.
Why it matters
Reddit users and third-party moderation tools face disruption as the platform closes RSS feeds and public API access, forcing migration to Discord-based workflows. The changes tighten Reddit's data access, directly affecting the ecosystem that relied on free programmatic content.
