Reliance Industries Growth Set to Shift From O2C to New Energy in FY28
· Business · LiveMint, Moneycontrol
Reliance Industries Ltd posted a consolidated EBITDA of ₹56,616 crore for the September quarter, driven by a 68% year-on-year surge in oil-to-chemicals segment earnings per tonne to ₹13,924. However, the retail division saw a slight dip in EBITDA margin to 7.34% with flat revenues of ₹80,220 crore amid online expansion pressures. Analysts note that O2C profitability remains temporarily elevated due to strong refining margins for petrol and diesel. Growth is expected to transition toward the new energy segment by fiscal year 2028 as traditional refining margins face global demand headwinds.
Why it matters
The performance of Reliance Industries dictates market sentiment for Indian equities, and its strategic shift into green energy signals a broader corporate transition for the domestic energy sector.
