Reliance Jio Opens Cloud PC Service to All Indian Internet Users
· Technology · TechCrunch
Reliance Jio has expanded its JioPC cloud service to all internet users in India, regardless of their current broadband or telecom provider. The service allows users to stream a virtual PC from Jio's data centers, effectively turning aging computers into AI-ready machines without requiring hardware upgrades. Subscription plans range from ₹1,000 for two months to ₹5,000 for a 12-month package offering 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Industry analysts suggest the model targets price-sensitive consumers and students who may not prioritize traditional hardware replacement cycles. Reliance Jio originally launched the service for its own broadband subscribers in July 2025.
Why it matters
The service provides an affordable alternative for millions of Indian users to access modern computing and AI capabilities without the high cost of purchasing new hardware. It challenges traditional PC replacement cycles by shifting processing and storage requirements to the cloud.
