· India · The Hindu, India Today
The Kerala government has released pending salary dues to approximately 100 former contract employees of the Information and Public Relations Department’s PRISM project. These workers, who were tasked with communicating government welfare and development programmes, had been waiting for their arrears for nearly six months. The payments were processed on Monday, just before the Onam festival. The total outstanding amount for the staff, whose contracts expired in May, was estimated at ₹53 lakh. The affected employees had previously submitted a formal request to the department seeking the release of their remuneration.
Why it matters
The release of these funds provides immediate financial relief to 100 former contract workers who had been without income for several months, ensuring they receive their dues ahead of the Onam festival.
