A 40-year-old man, Sunil, was gored to death by a gaur on Saturday while assisting forest officials in driving a herd out of a residential area in Vilangad, Kerala. Following the incident, a relative named Vijesh suffered a fatal heart attack, leading to a double tragedy in the community. Local residents have refused to cremate the bodies, demanding that the Forest Department take immediate action to eliminate the aggressive wild animals from the locality. MLA K M Abhijith stated that the government has offered an initial compensation of ₹5 lakh as part of a total ₹14 lakh package.
