Returning the bottle: BJP’s Ravneet Bittu detained after protest near Mann’s convoy
· India · Times of India, NDTV, India Today
Ludhiana Police detained BJP leader and former Union minister Ravneet Singh Bittu on Saturday after he threw eggs and tomatoes at Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann’s convoy. The incident occurred as the Chief Minister’s cavalcade passed through Ludhiana. Bittu, the grandson of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh, was en route to Pathankot for a BJP-led anti-drug yatra at the time of his detention. This confrontation followed allegations by Bittu that his own convoy was attacked by over 100 AAP workers near Batala on Friday. Bittu claimed that the previous attack damaged two escort vehicles and a jammer vehicle, and he has reported the matter to the Union Home Ministry.
Why it matters
The escalation between BJP and AAP leaders in Punjab signals heightened political friction ahead of state-level events, raising concerns about the safety of political figures and their convoys.
