Rijiju Rejects Arunachal Incursion Claim, Cites Boundary Delineation Confusion

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju on Wednesday rejected reports that China has made a 60-kilometre incursion into Arunachal Pradesh, attributing local border concerns to a lack of formal boundary demarcation. Speaking to news agency IANS, Rijiju stated that while villagers' concerns in the frontier state are valid, claims of Chinese troops entering deep into Indian territory and circulating unrelated videos are false. He explained that the absence of a delineated boundary has led to overlapping land claims by local residents on both sides. To address security along the frontier, India has strengthened arrangements with increased patrolling by the Army and the Indo-Tibetan Border Police. The remarks follow the government's decision to formally identify 27 locations in Arunachal Pradesh by standard names on Survey of India maps following China's attempts to rename places in the region.
