Rising Brahmani River Floods Waters Strand 300 Students in Odisha

Nearly 300 students, including over 100 girls, remain stranded at the state-run Kulasahi Ashram School in Odisha's Kendrapara district after rising flood waters from the Brahmani River inundated the premises. Incessant rainfall over the past 24 hours forced officials to shift the students to the first floor of the school building in the Pattamundai block. Kendrapara district collector Raghuram Iyer confirmed that all students are safe and that adequate food and drinking water are currently available. A fire service team equipped with a boat has been deployed near the low-lying campus to handle potential evacuations if water levels continue to rise. Across the state, heavy rain has affected over 5 lakh people in northern districts, prompting the deployment of senior IAS officers to monitor relief operations in Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.
