Roblox Expands AI Creation Tools and Cross-Platform Gameplay
· Technology · TechCrunch, Indian Express
Roblox has announced new features at its annual developer conference, including expanded generative AI tools that allow users to create games using natural language prompts. The feature, known as Build, is now expanding to Serbia and Singapore after an initial launch in New Zealand. The company is also enabling creators to publish their games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles, with in-browser playability expected by year-end. Additionally, Roblox is introducing new NPC capabilities, an offline mode, and improved discovery algorithms to tailor content to different age groups. Since 2013, developers on the platform have earned over $5 billion, with $1.7 billion generated in the last 12 months alone.
Why it matters
These tools lower the barrier to entry for game development and shift Roblox from a closed platform to a more versatile engine for independent creators.
