Robotics data startup XDOF is in late-stage talks to raise a Series B round at a valuation of approximately $1.2 billion, led by 8VC. Co-founded in 2024 by UC Berkeley researchers Philipp Wu and Fred Shentu, the company emerged from stealth less than three months ago. The rapid fundraising comes after VCs approached the startup due to surging growth, with annualized revenue nearing $50 million following a $70 million Series A round in June. XDOF builds teleoperation systems and data pipelines to collect real-world training data for general-purpose robots, addressing a critical bottleneck in robotics. The startup is partnering with UC Berkeley's AI Research lab to release a massive collection of robot training data dubbed ABC.
