Robotics startup Generalist has reached a $3 billion valuation following a nearly $200 million capital injection led by 8VC. This fresh funding serves as an extension to a $400 million Series B round announced in June, bringing the company's total funding to $600 million. Founded in 2024 by former Google DeepMind researchers and a Boston Dynamics engineer, the startup is developing an AI foundation model designed to operate across various robotic platforms. Its Gen 1.5 model allows robots to learn new tasks from video demonstrations lasting between 3 and 12 seconds. The company currently works with a select group of customers to refine its technology for specific applications.
