Robots poised for 'ChatGPT moment,' Unitree CEO says

Unitree founder and CEO Wang Xingxing stated that the humanoid robot industry is approaching a 'ChatGPT moment' for embodied intelligence. Speaking at the World Robot Conference in Beijing, Wang noted that the sector is nearing a point where robots can navigate unfamiliar environments and perform most tasks using simple voice or text commands. Despite the optimism, the CEO cautioned that significant advancements in robot software will likely take two to ten years to fully materialize. Shares of the Hangzhou-based company fell 11% on Thursday, following a nearly sixfold increase during their market debut in Shanghai on Wednesday. The company aims for future robots to successfully complete approximately 80% of tasks in unfamiliar households.
