· Sports · Cricbuzz, Sportstar
South Africa dominated Australia with a massive total in the third Test, with the home side scoring 414 runs for the loss of 6 wickets on the final day to set a commanding lead. The innings saw three batsmen cross fifty, with a partnership that helped secure the steep total and put Australia under intense pressure. South Africa now leads the series 1-0 and has a clear advantage heading into the final two matches. The performance highlights the depth and quality of the Proteas' batting lineup. South Africa’s win also suggests the match will likely be decided by a second innings revival from Australia.
Why it matters
The result overhauls the series in South Africa’s favor and heavily shifts the momentum for the final two Tests, impacting both teams’ World Cup preparation. A series lead could force Australia to adjust their playing strategies, while South Africa’s win provides a morale boost ahead of the remaining fixtures and the upcoming ICC events, affecting player selection and preparation for both sides.
