India and China remain major purchasers of Russian crude, prompting Washington to signal that it expects New Delhi to increase direct purchases of American oil. During the talks, Jaishankar conveyed India's economic and strategic concerns regarding the sanctions legislation while balancing the country's strategic autonomy and energy needs.
