Sri Lankan javelin thrower Rumesh Pathirage has set his sights on Olympic gold following a dominant season that included winning the World Ultimate Championships with a 91.09m throw. Pathirage has won 11 of his 12 international competitions this year, including titles at the Diamond League finale and the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow. During the World Ultimate Championships, he overcame a slow start to secure the title and a $150,000 prize in the final round. Pathirage currently holds the top three throws of the season, with three of his efforts exceeding the 90-metre mark.
