Sabarkantha Crash: 12 Ambaji Pilgrims Injured After SUV Rams Padyatra

Twelve pilgrims walking to the Ambaji temple for the annual Bhadarvi Poonam fair were injured when a speeding Scorpio rammed into them near Dolgarh Patiya on the Himmatnagar-Idar highway in Sabarkantha district on Monday evening. Police stated that the driver breached a highway checkpoint by ignoring signals from a Gujarat Rakshak Dal jawan before ploughing into the group and fleeing the scene. The incident sparked intense anger among locals and fellow pilgrims, who set the vehicle on fire. The injured victims were rushed to the Civil Hospital in Himmatnagar, where one critically injured person was shifted to the Intensive Care Unit and two others were moved to private facilities by their families. Police subsequently tracked down and took the Himmatnagar-based driver into custody.
