Sadhguru Jagadish Vasudev has proposed a five-nation Himalayan Board comprising India, China, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bhutan to coordinate disaster management in the region. He made the proposal in Kathmandu on August 30, 2026, while attending an event in solidarity with Nepal following deadly flash floods and mudslides. The Isha Foundation has pledged ₹1 crore to the Nepal Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. Meanwhile, 77 pilgrims from the Isha Foundation and three volunteers remain missing near the China-Nepal border following the disaster. The proposal aims to foster cooperation across political boundaries to address the environmental fragility of the mountain system.
Why it matters
