Sakarni Plaster to invest Rs 450 cr on expansion; to set up 2 building material plants

· Business · Economic Times, Entrackr

Sakarni Plaster (India) Ltd will invest roughly ₹450 crore over two years to set up a gypsum‑board plant in Andhra Pradesh and a paint plant in Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, while expanding capacity at existing plants. The company, which operates 12 plants largely in Rajasthan, will fund the expansion through internal accruals and bank loans. Chairman Ashok Gupta said the Andhra plant will be a joint venture with Coromandel Chemicals Ltd, with a dedicated ₹150 crore investment for a Phospho‑Gypsum‑based green building plant. The Mathura site will host a new paint manufacturing facility, adding to Sakarni’s portfolio that includes plaster of Paris, wall putties, tile adhesives, and waterproofing systems. Last year, the company generated ₹900 crore in revenue.

Why it matters

The expansion strengthens Sakarni’s position in India’s growing construction and building‑materials market, potentially lowering costs for builders and enabling broader availability of green building products.
