Former Inter Milan captain and Italy soccer star Sandro Mazzola has died at the age of 83. Inter Milan announced his passing on Saturday, noting that he had been suffering from a long, unspecified illness. Mazzola spent his entire 17-year playing career with Inter Milan, scoring 158 goals in 565 matches and helping the club secure four Serie A titles and two European Cups. On the international stage, he netted 22 goals in 70 matches for the Azzurri, winning the 1968 European Championship and reaching the 1970 World Cup final. He was the son of Valentino Mazzola, who died in the 1949 Superga air disaster.
