Sanju Samson Says Jasprit Bumrah Irreplaceable After India's T20I Loss
· Sports · Times of India, NDTV Sports
India wicketkeeper-batter Sanju Samson stated that Jasprit Bumrah is irreplaceable and a once-in-a-generation bowler, following India's 24-run defeat to the West Indies in the fourth T20I at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on October 15, 2026. Samson backed young bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Prince Yadav, praising their recent performances and expressing confidence in their growth with more opportunities. Arshdeep Singh suffered a blow to his left arm while batting and is receiving ice treatment, with the team hoping he recovers for the fifth T20I on Saturday. Samson also praised West Indies captain Shai Hope for his exceptional form, noting Hope's two centuries and a half-century in the series, and said India must respect his batting approach.
Why it matters
Samson's comments highlight the team's reliance on Bumrah and the need to develop young pace bowlers in his absence. The injury concern over Arshdeep Singh adds to India's bowling challenges ahead of the series decider.
