· India · Hindustan Times, Times of India
A satirical outfit called the Makhi Janta Party has emerged online following a recent remark by Chief Justice of India Surya Kant. The social media page claimed to have amassed over 40 lakh views and more than 330,000 followers on Instagram within 72 hours of its launch. The name emerged after Justice Kant questioned the rationale for a blanket shutdown in Delhi ahead of a protest, using a hammer-to-kill-a-fly analogy. The outfit's Instagram profile identifies a student named Aaryan as its founder and states it is seeking spokespersons. The page also expressed solidarity with the Cockroach Janta Party and activist Neha Bora.
