SC Directs Preservation of CCTV Footage Amid Anti-CEC Protests

The Supreme Court has ordered the preservation of CCTV footage, including within its premises, during protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Opposition leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, have filed a petition seeking full disclosure of Election Commission records related to the deletion of 13 crore voters in the special intensive revision. Meanwhile, students protested near Jantar Mantar on October 14, 2026, against the CEC. The court has also agreed to form a women-led committee to address grievances of women journalists facing abuse at protest sites, in line with Vishakha guidelines.
