SC orders mediation for Boney Kapoor, rival claimants in Sridevi land dispute

The Supreme Court has directed late Bollywood actress Sridevi’s family and rival claimants to resolve a property dispute through mediation. A bench of justices KV Viswanathan and Arun Palli asked the parties to cooperate with a retired high court judge appointed as mediator, with the matter posted for hearing on December 18. The 2.7-acre plot in Chennai came into Sridevi's possession under a 1988 sale deed and was transferred to husband Boney Kapoor and daughters Janhvi and Khushi after her death in 2018. Three individuals claiming to be legal heirs of original possessor MC Chandrasekaran filed a suit in January 2025 to cancel the sale deed. Senior advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi represented the Kapoors, while senior advocate Raju Ramachandran represented the claimants.
