Scientists report that sea surface temperatures in the equatorial Pacific have reached Super El Nino status, with subsurface heat content already exceeding levels recorded in 1982, 1997, and 2015. This phenomenon is expected to disrupt global weather patterns, potentially pushing average global temperatures nearly 2 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels by early 2027. The next 12 to 18 months may see increased frequency of extreme heatwaves, severe droughts, and flooding worldwide.
