The Sports Development Authority of Tamil Nadu has terminated RPP Infra Projects Ltd.'s Rs 205.89-crore contract for the Global Sports City project in Chennai. In a letter dated July 31, 2026, SDAT Member Secretary J. Meghanatha Reddy stated that the project will be restructured to host larger international events like the Asian Games. A senior government official noted that the proposed site in Thalambur is prone to flooding and is currently being re-examined. RPP Infra stated that it is evaluating its financial implications and legal remedies after incurring substantial expenditure on initial execution.
