Search Operations Continue For 22 Missing After Vessel Sinks Off Odisha

Rescue teams from the Indian Navy and the Indian Coast Guard are searching for 22 crew members missing after their bulk carrier, M.V. Ocean Winner, sank in the Bay of Bengal. The vessel, which was carrying iron ore from Paradip Port, lost communication 36 hours after its departure on August 20, 2026. Two Chinese nationals have been rescued so far by the merchant vessel MT Aisopos, which was diverted to the area to assist. The Indian Navy deployed a P8I surveillance aircraft to locate the remaining crew members approximately 700 km east of Visakhapatnam. The vessel was built in 1998 and had been flagged by Panama.
