· India · India Today
A 40-year-old man, Bikramjit Singh, was hacked to death in Punjab's Shri Hargobindpur for opposing the sale of narcotics. This incident occurred just two days after the killing of anti-drug activist Parvinder Singh Jhota, who was shot dead inside a medical store in Mansa. Jhota was reportedly killed while hosting a Facebook Live after confronting a store owner about the sale of addictive drugs. Following Jhota's murder, a statewide bandh was observed across several Punjab districts with support from various political parties and farmer unions. Authorities have initiated demolition actions against the store involved in the shooting, though mobs have vandalized the property despite police presence.
