Sequoia-Backed Empirik Launches With $21M to Predict Tech Outages

Empirik has spun out as an independent company after securing $21 million in seed funding from Sequoia, Canapi, and Alumni Ventures. Founded by former Sequoia IT leaders Avon Puri and Sudheer Dhurjati, the startup builds tools to predict tech outages before they occur by tracking system changes and their ripple effects. Sequoia recruited Kartik Chandrayana, former Quantum Metric CPO and Salesforce observability VP, to serve as CEO earlier this year. The platform acts as an autonomous traffic cop that permits low-risk changes, sets guardrails on larger updates, and flags dangerous modifications for human review. Since launching earlier this year, Empirik has onboarded customers ranging from startups to Fortune 500 companies, including S&P Global and Guardant Health.
Why it matters
The funding and launch provide DevOps and site reliability engineering teams with autonomous tools to offload routine troubleshooting and prevent costly infrastructure failures.
