Sergio Perez Extends Cadillac F1 Contract Until 2029
· Sports · BBC Sport, Sportstar
Sergio Perez has signed a multi-year contract extension with Cadillac, keeping him with the American Formula One team until 2029. The 36-year-old driver will celebrate his 300th Grand Prix start in Mexico City this weekend. Perez joined Cadillac in August before their debut season, partnering with Valtteri Bottas. He previously won six Grands Prix, including five for Red Bull between 2021-24 and one for Racing Point in 2020. Despite finishing second in the 2023 drivers' championship, Red Bull dropped him at the end of the 2024 season. Perez currently sits at the bottom of the 2026 standings, with neither he nor Bottas having scored points for Cadillac.
Why it matters
This extension secures Perez's future in Formula One with Cadillac, allowing him to continue contributing to the team's development from its inception. It provides stability for Cadillac as they work to establish themselves in the sport.
