· India · India Today, Indian Express
At least seven people have died and 30 remain hospitalised following the consumption of spurious liquor in Gujarat’s Bhavnagar district. The incident occurred during a farm gathering in Kharakadi village, where victims reportedly consumed counterfeit liquor sold under a popular Indian Made Foreign Liquor brand. Police have detained 12 suspects and registered an FIR against 21 individuals, with preliminary investigations suggesting the liquor originated from Madhya Pradesh. The State Monitoring Cell has taken over the probe and recovered approximately 90 per cent of the illegal stock. This event follows a major 2022 hooch tragedy in the same region that resulted in 42 deaths.
