Seven workers injured as bridge collapses in Bihar of Vaishali
· India · Indian Express
Seven workers were injured when an under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar's Vaishali district on Thursday. The accident reportedly occurred due to a technical fault while material was being loaded using a girder launcher. Rescuers had to use heavy machinery to free a worker whose leg was crushed during the collapse. Three of the injured were moved to Sadar Hospital for treatment. This incident follows four months after a section of the Vikramshila Bridge over the Ganga collapsed. Police are conducting an investigation to determine the exact cause and sequence of events.
Why it matters
The collapse highlights ongoing concerns about safety standards and infrastructure quality in Bihar, where the state saw multiple bridge failures in a short period last year.
