Indian long jumper Shaili Singh narrowly missed a medal at the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya after her fourth attempt was officially measured at 6.41m, placing her fourth. The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) claims officials took a shorter measurement from a mark pointed by an official standing far behind the landing pit, rather than the mark indicated by the official nearest the pit. Anju Bobby George, AFI senior vice president and Shaili's mentor, stated the jump was clearly ahead of the gold-winning 6.55m mark by China's Huang Yingying. AFI appealed to the jury, which upheld the original decision after reviewing side view videos. The federation is now preparing to move the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne against the official decision.
