Shakti Sharma Becomes First Woman Non-Medical Air Vice Marshal

Air Vice Marshal Shakti Sharma has become the first woman non-medical officer in the Indian Defence Services to attain the rank of Air Vice Marshal. She assumed her new role as Assistant Chief of the Air Staff (Education) at Air Headquarters in New Delhi on September 1. Commissioned into the Indian Air Force in 1994, Sharma has over three decades of service experience. She previously made history as the first woman officer from the Tri-Services to command a Sainik School.
