The Allahabad High Court has directed the production of 31-year-old Ayush Malik on September 16 following allegations that he is being illegally detained by his father, Devraj Singh Malik. The habeas corpus petition, filed by Ayush's friend Sultan, claims the detention stems from Ayush's conversion to Islam and his subsequent marriage to Chandni Qureshi. The court noted that documents suggest Ayush voluntarily renounced Hinduism and married against his father's wishes. Devraj Singh Malik had previously registered a case against Chandni and her father, Islam Qureshi, under the Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Unlawful Conversion of Religion Act, 2021. Justice Sandeep Jain ordered that if Ayush is not produced, state authorities and his father must file personal affidavits explaining the failure and the steps taken to secure his presence.
