Indian para archers Sheetal Devi and Rakesh Kumar set a new world record at the World Archery Para Series in Ahmedabad on Sunday by scoring 1400 in the compound mixed team qualification round. The pair surpassed their previous record of 1399 set at the Paris Paralympics, securing the top seeding in the event. Sheetal, an armless para archer from Jammu, shot 698 out of 720 to claim the top seed in the women's compound qualification, while Rakesh secured the second seed in the men's compound section with 702 points. India also dominated the team qualifications, topping both the women's and men's compound team events at the Sabarmati Riverfront venue. The strong performances advanced multiple Indian archers into the second round and direct semifinal berths for the team events.
