Shimla-Kalka Toy Train Services Disrupted by Hill Slip

The Shimla-Kalka toy train service was disrupted on Saturday after a hill slip occurred near Bridge Number 57 between Koti and Ghumman stations. Northern Railway deployed road transport to evacuate and shift over 400 passengers following the incident on the UNESCO World Heritage route. The zonal railway arranged a fleet of five buses and two Tempo Travellers to transport 391 passengers alongside 40 train crew and IRCTC staff members from Solan, Koti, and Dharampur Himachal to Kalka station. As a precautionary measure, four incoming trains were short-terminated at nearby stations including Solan, Koti, and Dharampur Himachal. Passengers received 250 food packets and water bottles upon reaching Kalka, while about 120 travellers boarded a specially rescheduled train departing at 1:30 am for onward connectivity.
