Shivraj Singh Chouhan Confronts MP Government Over Demolition of Tribal Homes in Sehore
· India · Indian Express, NDTV
Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan publicly confronted the Madhya Pradesh Government over the demolition of tribal families' houses in Kosmi village of Budhni in Sehore district. The operation, conducted by the Forest Department to remove alleged encroachments, affected 12 families belonging to the Barela tribal community, damaging their crops and filling a well with soil. Chouhan described the destruction as the crushing of years of hard work by poor tribal farmers and alleged that officials acted out of a conspiracy to malign the party and Chief Minister Mohan Yadav. He noted that the affected families had voted for the BJP in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, making the incident deeply painful for him. Congress Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar responded by alleging that tribal families were bearing the consequences of an internal friction within the BJP Government.
Why it matters
The public confrontation by a senior Union minister exposes internal friction within the ruling party in Madhya Pradesh and raises questions about administrative accountability toward tribal voters.
