SIT Submits Final Report on Ayodhya Temple Theft Case

The Uttar Pradesh Home Department handed the final Special Investigation Team report over to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Tuesday. The three‑member SIT, led by Lucknow Divisional Commissioner Vijay Vishwas Pant, was formed on 13 June after the trust requested an inquiry ahead of a Supreme Court intervention. A preliminary report, submitted on 23 June, made several hard recommendations, leading to an FIR filed on 25 June. The FIR lists eight accused but does not name former trust general secretary Champat Rai or former member Anil Mishra. Eight individuals were booked under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Prevention of Corruption Act, with further arrest actions following the preliminary findings.
