Six Dead As Vehicle Falls Into Ditch in J&K's Poonch

Six people were killed and three others were injured when a vehicle veered off the road and plunged into a ditch in Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch district on Wednesday. The Maruti Eeco was traveling to Seri Chouhana village in the Sheldhar area of Surankote when the driver lost control around 5:30 p.m. The dead include two women, identified by officials as Mohd Shafiq, Nazakat Hussain, Sheraz Ahmed, Mohd Fareed, Musarat Naz, and Zulfat Bi. Five-year-old Irshan Ahmed, Mohd Amin, and Tahir Ahmed sustained injuries and were rushed to the district hospital in Poonch, with the critically injured child later referred to Government Medical College hospital for specialized treatment. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed anguish over the tragedy and directed the district administration to provide immediate assistance to the affected families.
