SK Hynix Begins Construction Of $4 Billion Memory Plant In Indiana

SK Hynix Inc. held a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday for its advanced memory packaging facility in West Lafayette, Indiana. Costing more than $4 billion and spanning a 133.5-acre site, the plant is the company's first high-bandwidth memory packaging base in the US. Chief Executive Officer Kwak Noh-Jung stated that the cleanroom is expected to open by October 2028, with mass production scheduled for the second half of 2029. Once fully operational, the hub will employ approximately 1,000 workers. The project supports Washington's broader initiative to rebuild domestic supply chains for critical technology sectors.
