Slack Launches Slack Code to Embed AI Agents in Group Chats

Salesforce-owned messaging platform Slack launched Slack Code on Thursday, a new product integrating AI coding agents directly into dedicated team channels. The platform supports partner agents including Anthropic's Claude Code, Cognition's Devin, GitHub Copilot, and Vercel's agent, allowing entire engineering teams to collaborate on software development in the open. When triggered, agents create project-specific code channels to handle tasks with live previews, code diffs, and running plans before archiving the chat to leave a searchable audit trail. Slack's interim CEO Rob Seaman stated that the tool shifts the primary software development bottleneck from code generation to human ideas, taste, and judgment.
