Snap Unveils $2,195 Standalone AR Specs Without Tethered Pucks

Snap has introduced its first consumer-ready augmented reality glasses, priced at $2,195, designed to operate without a separate puck, controller, or tethered connection. Weighing 132 grams, the device is roughly twice as heavy as Meta's display-enabled frames, but features an evenly distributed weight and snug fit during initial testing. The glasses come in two frame sizes, 47 mm and 52 mm, and feature chunkier arms that house the hardware. Equipped with two cameras, the glasses support hand-tracking controls where users point with an index finger and pinch to select items on screen. The operating system features more polished software and practical applications compared to previous iterations, though questions remain regarding consumer adoption.
