Sonal Dinusha's 85 Keeps Sri Lanka Resisting India in Second Test
· Sports · Times of India, NDTV Sports, Sportstar
Sonal Dinusha scored an unbeaten 85 runs to lead a lower-order fightback for Sri Lanka on the rain-hit third day of the second Test against India in Colombo. The left-hander shared a 35-run unbroken ninth-wicket partnership with Lahiru Kumara and a 57-run stand with Keshara Nuwantha. Pasindu Sooriyabandara also contributed 80 runs off 133 balls in only his second Test innings, helping the hosts reach 265 for eight. Sri Lanka still requires 38 runs to avoid the follow-on after India had earlier posted 503 for nine declared. Rain and bad light brought an early end to Tuesday's proceedings at the SSC ground.
Why it matters
The resilient performance by Sri Lanka's young batsmen keeps the team competitive in the second Test against India, preventing an immediate follow-on.
